How to Manage Stress: Simple Tips That Work

Stress is a part of life, but the good news is that there are easy ways to manage it and feel more in control. Here are some simple, effective strategies you can try:

  1. Take a Break
  • Step away from what’s stressing you out
  • Go for a short walk, listen to music, stretch, talk to the cat/dog
  1. Breathe Deeply
  • Try slow, deep breaths to calm your body and mind
  • Even a few minutes can make a difference
  1. Stay Active
  • Exercise is a natural stress reliever
  • You don’t need a gym – walking, gardening, yoga can all help
  1. Get Enough Sleep
  • Lack of sleep makes stress feel worse
  1. Talk It Out
  • Share your thoughts with a friend or family member
  • Talking can bring comfort and new perspective
  1. Practice Saying No
  • Don’t take on more than you can handle (might be easier said than done, but we are looking for progress not perfection!)
  • It is OK to put yourself first sometimes. Honestly, it is.
  1. Ask for Help
  • If stress feels too heavy, speak to a doctor or counsellor
